I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Labor Day. I would also like to thank all of the farmers and farm workers for all of the work that they do year round. It is a hard life, but one I feel must carry with it a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day. There is just no imagining where we would be without our farmers and I hope that this traditional lifestyle continues for a long, long while.
In honor of this sentiment I’d intended to wash fleece this weekend and perhaps dye some fleece and/or yarn, but the weather, in true New England fashion, has not cooperated. It’s been very, very humid when it’s not actually raining so I’ve had to content myself with some knitting and crocheting.
This has been more of a work-a-day summer for me. I really haven’t had the opportunity to work on anything that challenges me although I have high hopes once I’ve finished up an afghan and baby sweater – although the sweater might just be the challenge for which I’ve been looking. It was started by someone else and then the family dog helped. Maybe I’ll just hold off on challenging patterns until I’ve checked this one out a little more closely.
Therre are many people that contribute to our way of life who never belonged to unions and farmers is certainly one. Thanks for sharing.

I agree, Lea, and I didn’t mean to intentionally ignore any one group, it’s just that lately it seems that there is little understanding of the job. I’ve only worked in one union job in my life and it didn’t last long.
